Query: How to create Scatter chart

Scatter: This chart displays the correlation between two variables.

Scatter chart Instructions - The sample chart uses the International Financial Statistics dataset. For Advanced Economies countries the charts plots GDP, Real, Index against CPI, All Items, Index; it shows years : 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004. 

Users may follow the steps below to replicate the following chart.

Step 1: Select first indicator
  • Click on X Axis so it is shaded.
  • Click on the plus sign next to Plot Area and select Indicator.
  • In the pop up dialogue box search for Consumer Price Index, All Items, Index; select and click GO.

Step 2: Select second indicator
  • Click on Y Axis so it is shaded.
  • Click on the plus sign next to Plot Area and select Indicator.
  • In the pop up dialogue box search for Gross Domestic Product, Real, Index; select and click GO.

Step 3: Select country:
  • Click on the plus sign next to Dots and select Country.
  • In the Country attribute, click on 
  • Place cursor somewhere in the gray area of the pop up dialogue box and right click.
  • Mouse over Group and click to select Advanced Economies. 
  • From the pop up dialogue box select All Items on the ScreenClick Apply and OK.

Step 4: Select time
Hints: 
  • To quickly find an indicator, country or time period, use the provided search box. 
  • Place cursor over the 'play' icon to see the graph change over time or select each year separately to view it.
  • The system allows dragging and dropping variables between attributes (or by clicking on the wheel icon ) in the Data View pane for different results.
